What we do

With members across the state, Retire Active SA boasts the largest number of recreational activity groups in South Australia.

From bush walking, table tennis and orchestra to dancing, computer training and cards (and everything in between), a healthy and vibrant retirement is at your doorstep. Our groups are open to everyone, regardless of age, fitness level or mobility. We are also the only retirement organisation in South Australia to actively help members start new activity groups, provided there is community interest to run a viable group. So, are you ready to explore the possibilities?

Why join a recreational group

  • Over 30 different activity groups available (with up to 2 complimentary come ‘n try sessions offered for each group)

  • Ability to start a group if not currently offered, with support to establish and promote new activities

  • Locations across South Australia

  • Activities to stimulate your mind and body

  • Indoor and outdoor activities available

  • Activities to suit all capabilities, fitness and mobility levels

Getting started

Retire Active SA is the peak body under which our activity and regional groups are formed and operate. Retire Active SA provides the structural, legal, administrative, insurance and support platforms that underpin the groups and their activities.

Once you’ve identified a group or groups of interest, it’s as simple as contacting the group coordinator to arrange participation. You may attend twice before committing to membership.

Having decided to join a group or groups, the next step is to become a member of Retire Active SA, a pre-requisite for membership of individual groups.

Membership of Retire Active SA is $53 per year, with discounts for joint members living in the same household. To join, click here. Alternatively, you can phone or visit the office. Once you are a member you may participate in as many Retire Active SA groups as you wish. Please note, some groups may charge a small fee to cover their operational costs.
